We work with a variety of types of mission-minded or mission-driven organizations—people or organizations whose mission is to serve others.

Often, a key ingredient in that is building a platform.

For example, if you’re going to teach churches how to better steward their resources, you’d better have a proven record of leading churches in doing so. You also need a bit of notoriety…a following or tribe that is willing to hear what you have to say on the matter. It also helps if you have a framework, a system, a process, a plan, or maybe even a published offering (a book or course or something similar) to give yourself some authority.

But don’t get it backwards.

Having a framework, plan, or even a published work alone will not allow you to accomplish your mission. If you don’t have the audience—the following or tribe—the best plan in the world will not matter.

You can’t reach people if you don’t have their attention. You can’t serve people who don’t know about you.

There are lots of ways to get people’s attention and build your platform. You can do it through content and free offers. You can do it through networking and influencer marketing. You can use paid traffic such as Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, etc. Or, a combination of all the above.

The important thing is to have a plan. Too often we see mission-minded organizations miss their goals because they’re just winging it. Don’t be that organization.
